The 2024 election has befuddled experts at the national level, as political prognosticators have tried to predict a winner for the presidential contest, which polling put in a dead heat for months. Now, finally, the results of the 2024 general election tell the final story of this year’s contentious election season.

For New Yorkers, there were also a number of hotly contested congressional races with the ability to impact the major parties’ fight for legislative power in the House of Representatives, as well as New York State Senate and Assembly races, a fight for the U.S. Senate seat from New York and several ballot proposals.

Every 2024 New York election result can be found in the tools below. Vote counting, beginning at 9 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2024, will be updated by the Associated Press, which will project winners via a checkmark.

Among the most hotly contested races that were billed as having the potential to impact the U.S. House were seven in New York:

NY-1, pitting GOP Rep. Nick LaLota against Democrat John Avlon; NY-2, where GOP Rep. Andrew Garbarino matches up with Democrat Rob Lubin; NY-3, where Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi faces former GOP Assemblyman Mike LiPetri; NY-4, pitting GOP Rep. Anthony D’Esposito against Democrat Laura Gillen; NY-17, with GOP Rep. Mike Lawler facing a challenge from former Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones; NY-18, where Democratic Rep. Pat Ryan goes up against GOP challenger Alison Esposito; and NY-19, this rematch of 2022 candidates features GOP Rep. Marc Molinaro and Democrat Josh Riley.

Meanwhile, on Staten Island, a district that in the past decade has seen millions spent in fights for what was considered a flip seat, this year the incumbent Rep. Nicole Malliotakis greatly out-raised her challenger by nearly tenfold, indicating that Democrats did not believe that the seat was in play.

New York State Senate 2024 election results

Although Democrats have long had a stronghold in Albany, controversy over bail reform and other law enforcement legislation allowed Republicans to gain some ground in 2022 elections for state legislators.

The question for 2024 would be whether that creeping gain in power would continue.

Like state senate, the New York State Assembly district lines were recently redrawn, and changes make election results slightly less predictable for incumbents.

Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand defended her senatorial seat in our nation’s congress against challenger Republican Mike Sapraicone. Diane Sare ran as a third-party candidate.
