It’s a staggered start for the field at the Tour Championship this week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

At the top of the leaderboard is the world’s No. 1 player, Scottie Scheffler, who will begin at 10-under and a two-stroke lead on Xander Schauffele at 8-under.

This leads Scheffler to clear favorite status at +115 on DraftKings Sportsbook, with Schauffele at +230 odds and no other participant is better than 10/1 as of early Wednesday afternoon.

So it’s a two-horse race at the outset, according to oddsmakers, but there’s also betting on the tournament without the starting strokes, for those looking to wager more conventionally.

That’s where we will look ahead of the Tour Championship, throwing out the strokes gained and betting more conventionally for this tournament.

2024 Tour Championship predictions

Tommy Fleetwood

In comes Tommy Fleetwood (20/1), who is playing fantastic golf, even though he’s blown some big moments at the end of tournaments in his career.

The actual winner will be crowned with strokes gained in play, potentially making it a less pressure-packed end for whoever has the best four rounds in Atlanta.

Fleetwood having less pressure is a nice bonus should it get to crunch time Sunday.

He’s been in excellent form of late, having placed in the top five at the BMW Championship.

An important factor working in his way is that this weekend’s tournament is on Bermuda Grass, which, as StatMuse points out, has been very fortuitous to Fleetwood, ranking him among the top putters.

Fleetwood has also said he prefers this terrain in the past.

Betting on golf?

It’s worth a flyer at the odds, given his strong performances and the less pressure angle is appealing.
