San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk suffered what appeared to be a scary knee injury during Sunday’s 24-14 win against the Denver Broncos.

Juszczyk caught a pass by Brock Purdy and was tackled at his knees by Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron. Upon impact, Juszczyk’s right knee hyperextended backwards, which looked like a gruesome injury.

Juszczyk was down for a while before being helped off the field by 49ers trainers.

Anytime a knee injury occurs, the immediate fear is a torn ACL, which typically takes about a year to recover from.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with the media after Sunday’s win and delivered what sounds like a positive update on Juszczyk’s status.

“Juice, I mean, we don’t know for sure. They’re thinking it was probably a knee sprain. His ACL and stuff looked intact. But to find out for sure, we’ll have to find out tomorrow,” Shanahan said.

Even if Juszczyk does have to miss some time, the fact that San Francisco has seemingly been able to rule out an ACL tear is good news.

49ers fans will have to wait until Monday to get a more definitive update on Juszczyk’s status. But in the meantime, they can rest easy knowing that an ACL injury is apparently off the table.
