NFL player Xavier Legette has surprising taste when it comes to food.

The Carolina Panthers rookie, 23, appeared on the Tuesday, December 10 episode of the “St. Brown Podcast” and made the unexpected revelation about what he likes to eat.

After podcast hosts Amon-Ra, 25, and Equanimeous St. Brown, 28, asked Legette about his “hottest food take” when it comes to “something weird” he likes to eat, the athlete revealed a certain type of animal makes it to his dinner plate.

“I eat raccoon,” Legette shared with the NFL wide receivers.

The visibly shocked St. Brown brothers then asked him to clarify what he meant.

“Like a raccoon you see in the trash can,” Legette said. “I hunt it. I kill it. I skin ‘em. Cook ‘em. Eat ‘em. All that.”

Legette added that the last time he dined on a raccoon was at Thanksgiving and shared insight into what the meat tasted like.

“Everybody tries to stay stuff tastes like chicken,” Legette said. “But raccoon got its own taste.”

The rookie went to share that it wasn’t just raccoon he likes to eat. According to the sports star, squirrel and rabbit also often makes the cut for his at-home menu.

It’s not the first time Legette has publicly shared his love of munching down on raccoon meat.

In November, Legette appeared via social media to talk about his family’s plans for their Thanksgiving feast.

While many Americans traditionally love to eat turkey on the holiday, Legette said raccoon was on the cards for him.

“Man, what I’m mostly excited to eat today, is gonna be that raccoon,” he said via an Instagram story posted on Thanksgiving.

“My cousin called me up last night, told me they killed the raccoon two days ago. They took the clothes off and everything — washed him up. Yeah, we ‘bout to dive into that today.”

It’s not the first time the football rookie has made headlines for his views on food.

After a Panthers training session in Munich, Germany in November, Legette tried some authentic German sausages in an amusing video for RTL Sport.

“Do I have to cook it?” he hilariously asked about the sausages, before taking a bite.

Legette also had some thoughts about the chicken wings as he reviewed the German offerings.

In the video he admitted he was used to “a different twang of barbecue sauce.”

“I had some chicken wings earlier,” he said. “It had a little different taste to it.”
