It certainly was an eventful week for NFL quarterbacks in their 40s.
One day after 44-year-old Philip Rivers made his return to the league Sunday for the Colts following nearly five years of retirement, Aaron Rodgers mixed it up with the Dolphins on the sidelines during the third quarter of the Steelers’ 28-15 win on “Monday Night Football” in Pittsburgh.
A hot mic on ESPN picked up the 42-year-old Rodgers jawing with a Dolphins player, who was heard telling the veteran quarterback, “You can’t be on the sideline, get your old ass on.”

Rodgers then retorted, “You still talking s–t, down 21-3?”
Players and coaches on the Miami sideline smiled at the exchange with Rodgers, who finished the game completing 23 of 27 pass attempts for 224 yards and two touchdowns as the AFC North-leading Steelers improved to 8-6.

Pittsburgh leads Baltimore by one game in the division entering their final three games — at Detroit, at Cleveland and at home against the Ravens.
Rodgers has thrown for 2,594 yards with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 13 games for Pittsburgh after spending the previous two years with the Jets, including an injury-shortened 2023 season.
“It’s been a while since I’ve been a part of stuff like this,” said Rodgers, whose teams haven’t made the playoffs since 2021. “Nothing changes. It’s just, I feel really comfortable in this environment.”
