All About Sasha and Kai

If you’ve ever seen Naomi Watts grace a red carpet with one of her two kids in tow, you know just how closely Sasha and Kai Schreiber resemble their mom. The blonde siblings share both their parents’ piercing blue eyes, and may even take after them career-wise. But let’s rewind.

Once upon a time, back in 2005, Watts met Liev Schreiber at the Met Gala. Sparks flew and the two began dating. The pair became parents in 2007 with the birth of their son. A year later, they welcomed a daughter. The two had a headline-making Hollywood romance for 11 years before calling it quits in 2016.

Although their romance fizzled out, they’ve maintained a close relationship and continue to co-parent their two kids. In fact, they have quite the blended family, as Watts married Billy Crudup in 2023 after six years of dating and Schreiber married Taylor Neisen in 2023, also after six years of dating.

Watts revealed in a 2019 interview with Net-A-Porter that both of her kids have taken an interest in acting and even attended performing arts camps. “It seems they’ve got the bug,” she said, adding that her feelings about them acting are “definitely mixed.”

While neither of them have any acting projects on the docket, they are actively pursuing other passions: for Sasha, environmental advocacy, and for Kai, modeling. Ahead, read everything Watts has shared about her two golden-haired kids.

Sasha Schreiber

Watts and Schreiber officially entered parenthood with the birth of their son, Sasha, on July 25, 2007, in Los Angeles. The actress opened up to InStyle in October 2022 about the difficulties of conceiving Sasha in her mid-30s, saying she didn’t realize 35 “was a really late time to start thinking about getting pregnant.”

As a result, she tried various methods from wheatgrass shots to Chinese herbs to increase her fertility. She also “started looking into other possible alternative routes.” Such struggles made feeling Sasha’s first kick all the more special, a moment that happened during filming of the 2007 movie Eastern Promises. “I said, ‘I think I just felt my baby move.’ I’ll get choked up,” she said. “It was an astounding moment. I’ll never forget that moment.”

Sasha has taken an interest in environmental awareness, a passion he developed as a young boy and one that culminated in a family trip to Africa in July 2017. He showed his allegiance by attending climate strikes in September 2019 and a beach clean-up in March 2022.

Watts seems to burst with pride when she speaks about her boy. “You have a heart of gold. I’m so very proud of you,” she wrote in a July 2024 birthday tribute to Sasha. “You are a force but with the most gentle soul. I thank my lucky stars that you chose me to be your mum. And I’m so very grateful to have you by my side here. I love you.”

Kai Schreiber

The Watts-Schrieber household expanded by one on December 13, 2008, with the arrival of the pair’s daughter, Kai. The King Kong star told InStyle she knew she “always wanted to have more than one child.” She added, “I had a childhood that was a lot of moving around, we lost our dad very young, and I knew that having a sibling was so wonderful.”

Kai graduated from St. Luke’s School, a private middle school in New York City, in June 2022 and has continued her education since, while carving out a name for herself in the fashion world. A year after sitting front row at New York and Paris Fashion Week with her mom, Kai made her runway modeling debut at the Valentino Paris Fashion Week show in March 2025. Watts posted a carousel of videos and images of the moment with the caption, “That’s my @maisonvalentino baby! I’m squealing with pride. Ilysm @kaischreiberrr ❤️.”

Kai’s Dad recently spoke out in support of his daughter’s gender identity during a May 2025 interview with Variety. “Kai was always who Kai is,” Liev said. “Kai is such a fighter. It’s important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me.'”
