Andy Cohen is weighing in on Bravo showcasing Housewives who have differing political beliefs.
“Why so many MAGA women?? I can’t watch OC anymore because of them,” one Threads user asked Andy, 58, on Sunday, August 9, referring to The Real Housewives of Orange County.
“If we didn’t showcase people with different POV’s there would be no show,” Andy replied. “Also it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics.”
Andy did not identify any of the Housewives he was referring to. While replying to more fan questions on Sunday, he also responded to one user who asked whether there is “there anyone from bravo world who [he thinks] should run for office “or if he thinks “famous people shouldn’t run.”
“So far the track record for reality stars running for office is TERRIBLE,” Andy responded via Threads. “So I’m hesitant to say I think there are some really smart people on Bravo with great communication skills who could be effective in public service though.”
Andy has been a longtime executive producer for Housewives. Earlier this month, he shared that his boyfriend, Kevin Sobieski, has never watched the franchise despite Andy’s involvement.
“[He’s] never seen it,” Andy revealed on the Wednesday, August 5, broadcast of Today, claiming that Kevin, 42, has “not seen one frame” of one of the hit Bravo shows. “His algorithm is feeding him Housewives-related things 1786402460 because our phones listen to everything we say, so he’s starting to get a sense of the universe, but he has no clue.”
For Andy, Kevin’s lack of familiarity with Bravo doesn’t bother him.
“I love it. He loves my kids and me, and that’s what’s important,” Andy said, referring to son Ben, 7, and daughter Lucy, 4. “I’ll get him there.” (Andy welcomed his children via surrogate.)
Andy confirmed his relationship with Kevin in June after meeting the businessman at a party in the Hamptons nearly one year prior.
“I don’t want to be with the wrong person. I value my time too much. I value my life too much. I have great friends and a great life and great kids,” he said on his SiriusXM show, Radio Andy. “My criteria about what I was looking for never changed. It’s always been a feeling for me. I’ve always followed the feeling. I am really happy to say that I met the person.”
