Anne Hathaway knows exactly what she wants to see fans wear while watching The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Hathaway, 43, hopes people will ditch their normal movie theater outfits for something a bit more elevated when they go to see the highly anticipated sequel. “I’m hoping everybody dresses up and goes to the movies,” she told Vogue on Sunday, February 1.

Hathaway, who is reviving her part as Andrea “Andy” Sachs in the fashion-forward movie, added, “I hope people remember how much fun they had wearing hot pink and going to see Barbie. I’m hoping that everybody puts on their favorite Miranda Priestly-approved outfit and just has a blast.”

While being photographed filming the sequel, she was seen wearing classy outfits, including tailored blazers, straight pants and a button-up top. Hathaway also rocked a semi-sheer plaid top, which she wore with a sweetheart corset underneath. She completed her look with a pleated skirt.

Perhaps her most noteworthy look that fans have seen so far was a midnight blue dress featuring all-over sequins, a scoop neck, a cinched waist and a pleated skirt. She teamed the look with a silver clutch.

Meryl Streep, for her part, opened up to Vogue about what she wanted to see her character Miranda in — stylish pants.

“As a person holding her position for 20 years, she kept her look but adapted it, as we do with time,” she said, joking, “But I almost had PTSD from wearing high heels for 16 weeks. I feel like I should get a Medal of Freedom!”

Streep, 76, also shared that playing Miranda again after two-decades felt like “going into the back of your own closet and finding something, thinking, ‘Oh, I wonder if this still fits?’”

News broke that The Devil Wears Prada 2 was in production in July 2024.

On Sunday, the movie trailer dropped and revealed that Andy returned to Runway magazine as a features editor. Miranda, however, was not excited to see her former assistant.

“Sorry, who is this? Do you know her? Do I know her?” she asked Stanley Tucci‘s character Nigel, who told her Andy used to be “one of the Emilys,” which was her go-to assistant’s name.

“One of the what?” Miranda replies.

Emily Blunt is also starring in the movie again as her character, Emily Charlton. When she first saw Andy in the trailer, she thought she was having a “hallucination.”

“You know what’s funny? You’ve changed. You’re much more confident,” she later told Andy, adding, “Kept those eyebrows though, didn’t you?”

According to the official movie plot, The Devil Wears Prada 2 follows Miranda as she “struggles against Emily, her former assistant turned rival executive.” The duo “compete for advertising revenue amid declining print media, while Miranda nears retirement.”

In the original Devil Wears Prada film, Andy was working as an assistant alongside Emily. The duo were expected to be on call 24/7, which interfered with Andy’s life.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
