Donald Trump‘s win in the 2024 presidential election isn’t thrilling all of the U.S. There are plenty of pop culture fans who are noticing that Kim Kardashian has been rather quiet about the results, and they want to know why.
Some people think it’s her friendship with Ivanka Trump that is keeping the 44-year-old reality star from speaking up about whether she voted for Vice President Kamala Harris. Or it’s also possible that Kardashian crossed the aisle to vote for Donald Trump and she doesn’t want the backlash from her social media followers.
Are Kim Kardashian & Ivanka Trump Friends?
Kim and Ivanka have been friends since they first crossed paths at the 2014 Met Gala, though their friendship appears to have ramped up since the Trump family left the White House.
Ivanka revealed their first meeting in a photo diary shared with People at the time. “She was also excited to meet Lena Dunham for the first time and even took a moment to chat with fellow new mom Kim Kardashian,” the diary read.
Their friendship evolved when Ivanka’s father was in the White House and Kim developed an interest in prison reform after starting law school in 2018. Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, who were senior advisors to the president, were able to facilitate a meeting about commuting Alice Marie Johnson’s prison sentence for a nonviolent drug offense.
In March 2020, The Kardashians star revealed that her passion for prison reform was going to be a bipartisan effort. “I do love that I see so many different potential candidates discussing [criminal justice issues],” she explained to The New York Times. “I will work with any administration.” But her friendship with Ivanka endured long beyond Donald Trump’s first administration.

Ivanka was front and center at Kim’s 43rd birthday party in October 2023 along with Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez, Hailey Bieber, and Kimora Lee Simmons. She might have been shunned by the New York City elite, but Kim was keeping the Hollywood door wide open for her. Their BFF status even extended to their daughters, Arabella and North West, who shared a sleepover at some point.
As fans deal with their reactions to the 2024 presidential election, it’s a safe bet to assume Kim and Ivanka’s friendship has not been affected by the outcome — and it’s a hot topic on X, too. “When yall learn that ivanka trump and her husband are huge benefactors and investors in Kim’s businesses, maybe yall will finally see the light on who this woman really is,” one account wrote. Another social media user claimed that Kim is “helping [to] soft launch Ivanka with certain crowds too.” The criticism is loud, but it’s unlikely to break the very famous besties apart — their friendship is solid.
