The 76-year-old has been rocking them all awards season.

Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, and Gayle King have all been spotted wearing the sneaker-heel hybrids.
Kathy Bates is officially a Sneex-erhead after being spotted wearing the divisive heel-trainer for the third time this year on the SAG Awards red carpet. The Matlock star, 76, previously wore The Icon Hy-Heel Sneakers to the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes, per People, so we can deduce that she’s as big of a fan as Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, and Jane Fonda have claimed to be.

Bates wore a black pair of Sneex to match her all-black ensemble of a reflective blazer and sophisticated slacks. She accessorized with bold gold jewelry and a small clutch. The Icon and Sneex’s two other styles are pain-free heels (per the brand) because they are designed to promote even weight distribution across the entire foot. They also have a roomy toebox and ample arch support as well as velcro straps that offer a custom fit to every wearer.
Bates herself hasn’t said much about the shoes other than her devotion to wearing them on the red carpet. But King, Winfrey, and Fonda have given the shoes plenty of verbal praise. King wore The Icon in green on Late Night with Seth Meyers and gave them a shoutout.

“So this is [created by] Sara Blakely, guys… of Spanx fame. She spent eight years—she wanted to have a high heel that was as comfortable as a sneaker,” she began. “Have you ever seen anything like it?” The in-studio crowd’s answer was a resounding no, which is why the shoes made it onto Winfrey’s 2024 Favorite Things list. “The innovation is how it redistributes the weight off the ball of your foot,” she wrote. “The result is a shoe Gayle wore for 12 hours straight!”
Fonda had an equally positive review as someone who, at 87, thought she had given up heels for good. “They come in all colors and sizes,” she wrote in a September Instagram in which she showed off The Blake. “I don’t wear high heels anymore, but I can wear @sneex VERY comfortably!”
The hybrid shoe has caused commotion online for good reason—there certainly is nothing else like it. So before you join in poking fun at their novelty, try walking in a pair, first.
