SCIOTO COUNTY -An audit of the November election in Ohio has been released and Scioto County showed a voter turnout a few percentage points short of the rest of the state.

The audit reported a 100 percent accuracy rate of the state’s county boards of elections in the presidential election, according to the Secretary of State’s office.

“Ohioans deserve to know that their elections are transparent, accessible, and accountable,” said Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. “As 2024 comes to a close, I am proud to announce yet another 99.9 percent audit accuracy rate and am grateful for the hard work and dedication of Ohio’s bipartisan election officials who make it happen.”

The State of Ohio has 8,159,946 and 71.7 percent of those voters cast ballots in November’s general election. That means just more than 5.8 million votes were counted statewide.

In Scioto County, there are 45,434 registered voters. The election’s turnout was 31,496 on Nov. 5 for a mix of national, state, and local candidates and issues. That means 69.3 percent of Scioto County’s registered voters actually cast ballots in the most recent election.

This turnout was more than the mid-term election, which saw 47 percent of Scioto County’s voters turn out. In 2020, the last general election that included a presidential ticket, the county saw a 70 percent turnout.

“With important local races on the horizon in 2025, it is important to remember that every vote counts,” LaRose said. “Easy to vote and hard to cheat; that is our continued promise to every Ohioan.”
