Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg spent $8 million in a bid to thwart Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral run (the two more recently had a “cordial chat”), But any qualms Bloomberg had about the incoming mayor didn’t dissuade Bloomberg L.P., the company he founded, from believing in the city’s future.

Although Bloomberg is no longer CEO of the privately held media and software company, he remains its largest shareholder. We’d imagine his views would be taken into account in the company’s long-term space commitments worth billions of dollars.

As Crain’s first reported last week, Bloomberg LP just renewed its nearly 500,000 square-foot lease at Global Holdings’ 120 Park Ave. and extended it to 2040.

That move followed two other Bloomberg LP extensions we reported a year ago — for 924,876 square feet at SL Green’s 919 Third Ave. and for 900,000 square feet at Vornado’s 731 Lexington Ave.

Now, all three leases run until 2040 — by which time Mamdani’s reign will likely be a distant memory.
