Breece Hall has given little reason to hope he can return for the Jets’ clash against the Jaguars.
He sat out practice for the second straight day Thursday with his left knee injury.
He missed the Jets’ 32-26 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday with the injury, the first game he missed this season.
It’s the same knee in which he suffered a torn ACL in 2022.
Hall has rushed for 692 yards and four touchdowns and has added 401 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Without him, rookies Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis have handled the rushing load.
Passing game coordinator Todd Downing, who has handled play-calling duties since Week 6, singled the two out for praise.
Downing highlighted Allen’s block on Calais Campbell during Sunday’s loss, which helped give Aaron Rodgers enough time to find Garrett Wilson for a 42-yard pass.
Downing also glowed about Davis, who scored off a stretch run play to the outside, which Downing said he has been working on in practice.
“That play [by Allen] encapsulates who those guys are,” Downing said Thursday. “They’ll do anything to help us win. They’re eager and excited to get better at techniques that are new for them. Run schemes that are new for them. Those guys are an absolute pleasure to be around at all times. I was so happy for Isaiah. … It was fun to watch their hard work come to fruition in so many cool ways.”
Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) did not practice for the second straight day.
D.J. Reed (groin) didn’t practice, either, after he was a limited participant Wednesday.
Haason Reddick (illness) was a limited participant after missing Wednesday’s practice.
Davante Adams didn’t practice Thursday, but that was due to veteran’s rest.
Tight ends coach Ron Middleton was honest about Jeremy Ruckert’s quiet season.
Ruckert also had a bad drop during Sunday’s loss.
“He’ll be the first to tell you that every opportunity, how limited they may be, he needs to make the play every time,” Middleton said. “It’s just a focus issue. I still say the kid can catch a BB in the dark. It’s just a lack of focus. And finishing the play.”
Ruckert, whom the Jets drafted in the third round in 2022, has just 14 catches for 76 yards.
He’s played 35 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.
