MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Candidates ranging from five to 28 years old will be taking over the stage this Sunday for the Miss Magic City preliminary competition.

There will be five women crowned by the end of the day.

The winners will have the chance to compete for Miss North Dakota in June, and possibly represent our state in the Miss America competition next winter.

Each of them has a unique community initiative platform that they can advocate for throughout their reign.

Executive director Emily Braun has held numerous titles in the past, including Miss Norsk Høstfest and Miss N.D. State Fair.

Braun is also a first-grade teacher in Williston and said the organization has been a gateway for her to meet lifelong friends.

She added that she even met her best friend through the pageant, who had also become her maid of honor.

“It’s fun to watch them grow up and see not only the beauty aspect of the Miss America organization has, but they also see the scholarships. I, personally was able to pay for a really good chunk of schooling due to the scholarships,” said Braun.

Braun said what she loves most is watching relationships develop between the ladies from an outside point of view.

The event will also feature a talented lineup of tribal dancers, singers and guest appearances from this year’s Miss North Dakota Sofia Richards and Minot’s Miss N.D. Teen Tayler Christianson.

Doors open at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Minot Grand International Hotel.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.
