A Mediterranean street food restaurant with locations in some of the world’s largest cities opens this week in New Jersey.

Miznon Kosher, from celebrity chef and “MasterChef Israel” judge Eyal Shani, opens Wednesday on the first floor of Bell Works in Holmdel.

The 65-seat fast-casual restaurant will serve a menu of pita dishes, including a falafel burger with tahini, tomatoes, pickles and green peppers; a beef burger with fried egg, grilled tomato, aioli and pickles; chicken with tahini, za’atar and green peppers; and lamb kebabs with grilled tomato and onion, tahini, pickles and green peppers.

Sides include green beans with lemon garlic vinaigrette, and caramelized sweet potatoes.

The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner, and will be closed Fridays and Saturdays.

The first Miznon opened in Tel Aviv in 2011, followed by Paris, Singapore, Vienna, Melbourne, London and New York. Miznon locations are coming to Prague, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Berlin.

“After nearly a year of Miznon Kosher in New York, we are excited to spread our wings and bring the taste of Tel Aviv to our Jersey neighbors,” said Liad Balki, Miznon’s director of operations, in a news release. “Our mission is to bring our food philosophy and the essence of the pita to our kosher community far and wide, and what a perfect way to do that by opening our second Miznon Kosher in the U.S. inside a forward-thinking community hub like Bell Works.”

Shani’s restaurant group, The Good People Group, operates more than 40 restaurants around the world. Shmoné in New York, which serves a menu inspired by the chef’s upbringing in Jerusalem, received a Michelin star in 2023.

“Adding Miznon Kosher, a globally renowned culinary brand with locations around the world, to the community at Bell Works is an incredible addition to the diverse lineup of eateries at Bell Market,” said Ralph Zucker, founder and CEO of Inspired by Somerset Development, which converted the former Bell Labs building into Bell Works. “The Mediterranean street food eatery is the ideal tenant to cater to the vibrant mix of professionals working within our ‘metroburb’ and residents of the surrounding area.”
