For the second time in a matter of weeks, one of the ACC’s top teams sustained an upset.
No. 8 Florida State opened up the weekend on Friday, Sept. 26 with a 46-38 double overtime loss to unranked Virginia on the road, as Seminoles quarterback Tommy Castellanos was picked off in the end zone by defensive back Ja’Son Prevard. The Seminoles have now lost each of their past six conference games.

Speaking of upsets, Syracuse fell to Duke 38-3 at home at JMA Wireless Dome one week after Fran Brown’s squad picked up a signature road win against the ACC’s biggest powerhouse, Clemson.

No. 17 Georgia Tech staved off an upset to Wake Forest, as Yellow Jackets defensive back Clayton Powell-Lee intercepted Wake Forest quarterback Robby Ashford on a 2-point attempt to seal the come-from-behind win. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Demon Deacons 14-3 in the third quarter to get back into the game after trailing 17-3 at halftime.
Miller Moss helped rally Louisville to a come-from-behind win on the road at Pitt to give the Cardinals a win in their ACC opener. The Cardinals trailed 17-0 to the Panthers at the end of the first quarter before they went on a 34-10 scoring run across the final three quarters.

Miami and Clemson were on byes this week, as was Bill Belichick’s North Carolina team.
