Collin Gosselin is doubling down on his claims that mom Kate Gosselin abused him as a child.
“Never forget the fact that my mom would write in her diary how she ‘had to pray to God to stop hitting me’ (This was while I was 2 years old by the way),” Collin, 22, wrote via his Instagram Story on Tuesday, June 30. “And this is why using my voice to put these things in the light is so important.”
Us Weekly reached out to Kate for comment.
Collin’s post appears to have been made in response to Kate, 51, breaking her silence on his most recent abuse claims via several TikTok comments on Monday, June 29.
“No hate or ridiculous accusations here,” the former reality star wrote under one of her recent videos in response to someone who asked if she had been deleting comments on her page. “We speak honestly and accurately and are a positive uplifting group here!”
One fan commented, “Sending you love Kate! You know your truth and what a great mom you are.”
Kate replied, “Thank you. I’m fine. Nothing surprises me anymore in that department.”
Meanwhile, another fan suggested that she take Collin to court to “sue for defamation.”
“I can’t bc I’m a public figure. Rules are different unfortunately. Or I def would!” Kate responded.
In a follow-up comment, she wrote, “The rules are different for ppl in the public eye. I consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that’s what he said. The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye :(.”
Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin shot to fame on their family’s TLC reality series, Jon & Kate Plus 8, which documented the former couple as they raised their twins — Mady and Cara, 25 — along with Collin and his sextuplet siblings, Hannah, Aaden, Joel, Leah and Alexis, all 22. The show aired from 2007 to 2017 and showcased Kate’s 2009 divorce from Jon, 49.
In 2018, Jon was granted custody of Collin after the then-teen spent two years at an inpatient facility. Collin has claimed that Kate sent him to the facility to silence him for attempting to speak out about her alleged abuse, including tying him up and forcing him to live in the basement.
Kate spoke out about her son’s allegations in 2023, claiming that he was institutionalized due to “unpredictable and violent behavior.”
Collin’s abuse allegations are now making headlines again ahead of his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, in which he details his life during and after reality TV and goes further into his estranged relationship with his mother.
“My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown — in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden,” Collin told Us earlier this month. “For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation. Now, finally, I’m sharing what was really happening behind the scenes. This book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced. If my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to tell their own, then every difficult page was worth writing.”
In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood is set for release on October 13.
