Look for plant-based food hub operator Detroit’s Quiana “Que” Rice and her team on the upcoming Season 18 of the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race.”  

Premiering at 9 p.m. Aug. 3, the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race: Truckin’ Awesome” pits nine teams in a race to food truck glory.

Hosted by celebrity chef Tyler Florence, the race begins in Savannah, Georgia, and heads up the East Coast visiting landmark locations, including a NASCAR raceway along an eight-city route.

Teams are competing to win the $50,000 grand prize. In the show’s two-hour premier, teams face a banana-themed challenge from the viral baseball team, the Savannah Bananas. The food truck team operators are judged on their culinary skills each week in a new town challenged with the task of creating dishes that will outsell their competition to stay in the competition. In the end, the two teams will meet up and compete for the $50,000 grand prize.  

“We’re reppin’ Detroit with love, grit, and a whole lotta FLAVOR,” according to the Cooking with Que Facebook page. “Let’s show the world what it’s like to #EatToLive and why Cooking with Que is more than a brand — it’s a movement.”Rice is the owner of The Kitchen by Cooking Que on Woodward in Detroit’s New Center area, which started in 2015. According to The Great Food Truck Race website, Cooking With Que’s mission is to “serve up plant-based comfort food that speaks to everyone — vegans and meat eaters alike,” and the team is known for turning favorite dishes into “healthier versions without sacrificing flavor.”“We want to show people that vegans and meat eaters can coexist. We can all eat together. It’ll just be healthy, and it can taste freakin’ fire,” according to the team.Chef Quiana “Que” boasts that The Kitchen is Detroit’s first “health and wellness hub powered by food.” According to its website, chef Que offers plant-forward meals, does catering, meal prep, wellness workshops, cooking classes and team building events.The Kitchen by Cooking with Que is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays as a small café.
