SAN JOSE, Calif. — Goodness knows there are the big ones, the big thrills, the moments when your grandson is accomplishing amazing things, seemingly in front of the whole world and there is noise and revelry and, eventually, falling confetti.
Jake Kupp has embraced this, thankful for the blessings and the joy and all the accolades that turned Cooper Kupp into a celebrity player, a star of the most glowing magnitude. Four years ago on the grandest stage, Cooper Kupp rose above everyone else. That was with the Rams. He is back four years later, in another Super Bowl, this time with the Seahawks. This is all quite a lot for a grandfather to take in.
And Jake Kupp has taken it all in.
There is a quieter memory that resonates in him at a time when there is so much hubbub. Jake Kupp, back in the day a football player of great achievement, paused recently to think not about all that Cooper is known for but something that only a grandfather would keep near to his heart.
