WASHINGTON — Corey Lewandowski fired a Coast Guard pilot for leaving Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s blanket on a plane, according to a new report — but rehired him upon realizing there was nobody else to fly the plane.

Lewandowski, an unpaid special government employee who unofficially acts as chief of staff for Noem, with whom he’s had a years-long affair, has overseen a reign of terror over department staff since last year.

“Noem had to switch planes after a maintenance issue was discovered, but her blanket wasn’t moved to the second plane, according to the people familiar with the incident,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

“The Coast Guard pilot was initially fired and told to take a commercial flight home when they reached their destination. They eventually reinstated the pilot because no one else was available to fly them home.”
