TAMPA — In the two-plus years since the Mets non-tendered their former top hitting prospect, Dom Smith has been a part of six different organizations, trying to find somewhere he can re-establish himself.

The Yankees are just the latest stop, and as a non-roster invite to spring training, Smith faces an uphill battle to make the roster, even with Giancarlo Stanton looking like he will miss the start of the season.

But Smith is planning on making the most of his chance.

“They gave me an opportunity in camp, so I’m just coming here, bringing my positive mindset, trying to bring my energy and trying to be myself,” Smith said earlier this week in Fort Myers after homering against the Twins.
