Cynthia Erivo’s acting and singing prowess is taking the world by storm—but so is her style. The British actress, producer, singer, and songwriter first made waves with her memorable Broadway debut as Celie in the revival of The Color Purple, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2016.

She then went on to star in the titular role in the film Harriet portraying the American abolitionist and social activist Harriet Tubman, which garnered her Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Original Song for “Stand Up.” More recently, she’s been cast as Elphaba Thropp, better known as the Wicked Witch of the West, alongside singer Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch in the film adaption of the novel and musical Wicked.

While Erivo has never shied away from dressing to the nines for the red carpet, often clad in bold prints, daring silhouettes, and a killer manicure, her role as Elphaba has allowed the actress to embrace the witchy style of her on-screen character.

Ahead, we recap Erivo’s red carpet evolution with 21 of her most bewitching looks.
