One baseball landed in D.J. LeMahieu’s glove just as another struck him in the face.

YES Network showed the video during Saturday’s telecast of the freak injury that knocked LeMahieu out of Friday’s lineup.

He suffered a facial contusion during warmups.

LeMahieu is seen getting low to stretch for a bouncing throw from across the diamond when another ball enters the picture on a line from the right side of the screen and hits his face around eye level.

He grabbed his face and hustled to the dugout, where he went down.

It is unclear who hit or threw the ball that unintentionally took out LeMahieu.

Gleyber Torres ran off the field to check on LeMahieu alongside the Yankees trainers.

Manager Aaron Boone said the accident loosened a tooth in LeMahieu’s mouth.

He was scratched from the lineup, which had him playing first base and batting ninth, for “precautionary reasons.”

LeMahieu did not start Saturday’s game, either, but was in the dugout.

It was the latest indignity in a disastrous season for the three-time All-Star and two-time batting champion.

After beginning the season on the injured list, LeMahieu is batting .189 with two home runs, seven extra-base hits and a .512 OPS in 185 at-bats over 62 games

LeMahieu’s playing time at first base was cut in more than half when rookie Ben Rice was called up to face right-handed pitchers.

His playing time at third base disappeared when the Yankees traded for Jazz Chisholm.

There have been few signs of a turnaround from LeMahieu, who is 2-for-19 over his last six games.

His only hope of starting these days is at first base against a left-handed pitcher.

The Rockies are starting lefty Austin Gomber on Sunday, so it is a chance for LeMahieu to get back in the lineup if he gains medical clearance.
