Dawn Richard is setting the record straight on whether she was informed about a possible Danity Kane reunion.
“Even without being told about the reunion, I will always be a yes to Danity Kane,” Richard, 42, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, December 13, along with a video of Richard performing with her former band members. “That chapter lives in me forever.”
She continued, “I always choose to perform these records out of love for the music, the memories, and the legacy we built together. So here is a little something for the DK fans. I love you always.”
Dainty Kane reemerged as a trio on December 9 at August Hall in San Francisco. The group is now comprised of Aubrey O’Day, Aundrea Fimbres and D. Woods.
“Aundrea, Aubrey & D Woods welcome you to the Untold Chapter,” a post shared by the band’s official X account the same day read.
“Thank You for your patience! Aundrea, Aubrey and D Woods can’t wait to see you on tour!” Danity Kane said in another post.
Unfortunately, O’Day fell ill the following day and has had to miss shows.
“My loves… I am so sorry. I’ve become extremely sick and physically can’t make tonight’s show as I’m in the ER,” O’Day, 41, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, December 10, a reference to the band’s expected performance at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
O’Day continued, “I’ve been fighting it all day, spinning around in my head trying to find any way to make this work, but being sick is being sick — it’s completely out of my control. “My heart is broken because I never want to let you down. I know the girls will give you an incredible performance tonight, and I promise I’ll be back with you the second my body lets me.”
Fimbres and Woods decided to carry out the second performance of the tour as a duo. The group later announced plans to reform in October.
“The world has heard the music. The world has seen the headlines. But the truth… has never been told,” read an Instagram post on the band’s account. “Now, in a moment that no one saw coming, three voices from one of the most iconic girl groups of the 21st century are stepping back onto the stage together. Which three? That’s the mystery. And it’s part of the fire that has fans and critics buzzing: who will it be, and what will they reveal?”
The post continued, “The Untold Chapter Tour isn’t just a concert. It’s a reckoning. It’s the truth behind the story. It’s the reunion that no one thought possible. With set lists reshaped, confessions revealed and moments that will never happen the same way twice, this tour promises to leave audiences shaken, inspired and forever changed.”
Dainty Kane was originally formed by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs on MTV’s Making the Band 3. Richard and Shannon Bex joined O’Day, Fimbres and Woods as the fourth and fifth members of the group.
