Will Trent‘s latest episode hinted at a main cast member’s shocking departure from the show.

During the Tuesday, March 10, episode of the hit ABC series, Faith (Iantha Richardson) was still struggling after she put Malcolm (DeVaughn Nixon) behind bars despite falling in love with him. She received numerous letters from Malcolm, which led to a conversation between her and Amanda (Sonja Sohn).

“I look at you and the career you’ve had and what it’s cost,” Faith told Amanda. “And in my head, I know that what we do in the end — it matters.”

Faith admitted she didn’t know if she could “do this job anymore” after working for the GBI cost her a relationship. The episode ended with Amanda in shock, but it wasn’t clear whether Faith actually planned to look for a different career path.

Richardson, 35, previously teased how Faith and Malcolm’s romance will continue to affect her.

“I think she had some rose-colored glasses on, she had her little bad boy moment,” she told People earlier this month. “She was a young mom, maybe she never had a bad boy. This could have been her first time and now she did it. She did it, we’re done.”

Richardson said she was ready for Faith to “find some stability,” adding, “She deserves it. She’s done so much, she’s worked so hard in her life. She deserves some joy and I’m excited for that.”

She continued, “I feel like she should have genuine love. I just want to see her with somebody and happy. And there could be dynamics, because audiences love drama, but I think it’s time for her to have luck in love.”

Richardson teased that Faith will be “reignited” in “a really purposeful way to what she does.”

Based on a book by Karin Slaughter, Will Trent follows a special agent at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who was abandoned at birth and grew up in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Will (Ramón Rodríguez) now relies on his unique perspective while pursuing justice, resulting in the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

In addition to Rodríguez, Richardson, Erika Christensen, Jake McLaughlin, Sonja Sohn, Kevin Daniels and Bluebell the dog make up the rest of the cast.

Faith isn’t the only character whose story will continue to expand. Earlier this year, Rodríguez promised viewers would see a new side of Will.

“For someone like Will who hasn’t really taken much time to do that — considering how much he’s been through — he just always moves forward and focuses on his job,” Rodriguez explained. “He keeps himself busy that those have been some of his coping mechanisms and now to finally meet a therapist who is a bit unconventional where her tactics might be a little strange. But I think that’s what someone like Will needs.”

He concluded, “I love that we took what we’ve seen a million times before in movies and shows — which is therapy — and we said, ‘How can we make this really different and give it the Will Trent spin that we try to do?’ I loved it.”

Will Trent airs on ABC Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
