Dillon Brooks has inserted himself into the drama between Kevin Durant and Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia.
Just hours after Ishbia admitted that trading for Durant in 2023 was a mistake for the Suns organization, Brooks decided to chime in and take a shot at the former two-time Finals MVP.
Brooks posted a photo of himself in a Suns uniform on his Instagram story on Sunday night and wrote, “Thanks Matt for cleaning up that stench in the locker room before I came #culture,” while having the song “Back Down,” by 50 Cent playing.
Since Brooks made the post to his story, Durant, who now plays for the Houston Rockets, has not responded to the Suns forward.
The two have had an ongoing beef with one another since 2025, when Brooks was included in a historic deal that sent him to Phoenix, which included Jalen Green, Rasheer Fleming, Koby Brea, Daeqwon Plowden, a first-round pick, and multiple future second-round picks.
During last year’s playoffs, Durant and Brooks were seen getting into a heated exchange with each other, and it has raised speculation that Brooks told Durant he was “never that guy.”
As the two are in the middle of a standstill with one another, it comes after Durant reposted Ishbia’s comments on X and wrote, “#blameKD even though KD stayed on top of his game at 36 and got u back this “culture” you love so much. Aye, Matthew acts like I got arrested for a DUI or sumn. Back to threads😂😂😂😂😂😂😂”
Durant went and added another repost shortly after and wrote, “U should be giving Thanks every chance u get. You don’t have to pay me an absurd amount of money to play for another team.”
With the NBA season on the horizon, Durant’s Rockets will meet Brooks’ Suns three times this season, when they play their first game on November 7. November 25. and on February 5 for the series finale.
