As advertisements for the 2024 Presidential Election take over
every aspect of life in the United States, a new study breaks down the
potential impact on travel for each of the candidates.

Whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris wins, Americans have
an opinion on how the tourism industry will change, courtesy of The Vacationer’s
2024
Presidential Election Travel Survey.

The data was collected from 1,042 American adults, and more
than 64 percent of respondents said that, depending on who wins, they will
avoid traveling to some U.S. cities around the election due to potential mass
protests or riots.

In total, 24.76 percent of Americans will avoid traveling to
certain areas if Harris wins, while 16.03 percent will skip a trip if Trump
wins. Another 35.51 percent will not change travel plans, regardless of who
wins.

As for the candidate people feel would create lower travel
costs, 35.22 percent said Trump, 31.67 said Harris and 33.11 said neither would
make an impact on the prices of flights, hotels, car rentals, and gasoline.

More respondents think a Harris presidency (35.99 percent) would
lead to better consumer protection laws for travel than a Trump presidency
(34.93 percent). The 1.06 percent difference would represent nearly three
million people

The survey also asked which presidential candidate would you
rather be seated next to on a long flight, with Harris finishing with 55.09
percent of the respondents and Trump earning 44.91 of the responses.
