WASHINGTON — A lawyer and former Trump donor unveiled a defamation lawsuit against former US Ambassador to Greece Kimberley Guilfoyle as part of an apparent ploy to win the extradition of an alleged fraudster.
Eric Deters, who exposed text messages Guilfoyle sent begging him to pay off some $100,000 in her personal debts last year, announced the suit after the former Fox News personality allegedly claimed the texts were generated by artificial intelligence.
Deters explained that he will drop the suit if President Trump gets alleged fraudster physician Abubakar Atiq Durrani extradited from his suspected whereabouts in Pakistan and probes the judiciary’s handling of that case.
“This is not extortion,” Deters declared in a video post on social media. “Nothing I am asking for or doing is unlawful. I am playing hardball because the doctor Durrani victims deserve hardball on their behalf.”
Guilfoyle made a vague public claim that the accusations against her are “false,” but privately told White House officials that the bombshell texts begging Deters for money were AI-generated, the Wall Street Journal reported. The texts — and the distraction Guilfoyle created for the White House — prompted Trump to ask for her resignation.
Deters, who has been on a crusade to get Durrani extradited on behalf of the doctor’s victims, teased that he has more dirt on other Trump world figures as well.
“Information is pouring into me. And I got off the phone today from someone in Greece,” he added. “By the end of tomorrow I am going to play for you a phone recording that is the most explosive, most devastating information about Kimberly Guilfoyle to date.”
“No one in the media has it,” he added. “And I am going to play for you a 16-minute phone conversation.”
Deters, who said he is representing himself in the defamation suit as it plays out in court, also teased plans to pursue depositions of Donald Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle. The two got engaged in 2020, but officially cut it off in 2024.
The White House revealed Tuesday that Guilfoyle was asked to step down, and she announced her resignation shortly thereafter.
“This might just bring down the entire Trump administration, an administration which I have supported from day one, whose policies I still support,” Deters boldly declared.
“It also may end the JD Vance, Marco Rubio ticket after you hear the phone call that I’m going to play tomorrow.”
Durrani had been indicted in 2013 on numerous charges for allegedly getting close to 600 people to undergo unnecessary, risky spinal surgical operations. But he is believed to have fled the country before he could face trial.
Deters did legal work for numerous victims who suffered from Durrani’s alleged push for them to undergo unnecessary medical procedures.
He is also demanding that he receive an admission that he “did not blackmail” Guilfoyle and that he does not owe her money.
“The lawsuit is clearly frivolous on its face. Our upcoming response will speak for itself,” Guilfoyle’s lawyer told The Post.
