TV’s second biggest night saw a historic win as Sir David Attenborough became the oldest winner at the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
At age 99, the famed broadcaster won the outstanding daytime personality category at the Friday, Oct. 17, award show, surpassing Dick Van Dyke’s record win at age 98 last year.
Once again, soap opera”General Hospital,” a Daytime Emmy darling, swept this year’s categories, leading the pack with seven wins, including the top award for best daytime drama series.
“Live With Kelly and Mark” won best daytime talk series, while Drew Barrymore won best daytime talk series host for “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
Mario Lopez hosted the ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, and TV journalist Deborah Norville received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Eligible programs aired between Jan. 1, 2024, and Dec 31, 2024.
