A male Eagles fan was captured on video spewing vile comments at a female Packers fan during the teams’ wild-card playoff game on Sunday in Philadelphia.
The unnamed fan in a dark green Eagles jacket went viral for all the wrong reasons, verbally abusing the Packers fan — who was at the game with her fiancé — seated in front of him in the upper deck of Lincoln Financial Field and calling her an “ugly dumb c–t.”
Snippets of the interaction were posted to X by Alexander Basara and quickly went viral.
“What it’s like going to Philly just trying to root for your team…” Basara captioned his post. “Unprovoked, uncalled for. Packers twitter, help me out and find this guy … this is not okay.”
In the video, Basara can be heard responding to the raucous fan, telling him not to call his fiancée names.
“She’s an ugly, dumb c–t,” the Eagles fan snorts back. “You gonna do anything? Shut the f–k up and watch the game.”
All throughout the berating, Basara’s fiancé maintains a calm and cool composure. At one point she makes a “boo-hoo” gesture, pretending to rub her eyes, but otherwise hardly turns her head to look back at the Philly fan.
As of Monday afternoon, Basara’s X video had been viewed more than 10 million times and garnered tens of thousands of reactions.
Eagles and Packers fans alike expressed their horror at the preposterous remarks. And while some chimed in that such abhorrence was commonplace among Eagles fans and Philadelphians at large, many others noted that the ungentlemanly behavior of one fan shouldn’t be taken as a damnation of the franchise as a whole.
“I’m shocked that you didn’t expect this behavior. It’s Philly,” one X user commented.
“Eagle fans collectively are inappropriate … All fan bases have people that act that way — but on average eagle fans are worse,” another echoed.
“Coming from an eagles fan, I’m sorry. We’re not all like this & I’m disappointed no one around him stepped in to say anything,” wrote another.
“Lifelong Eagles fan here. And previous season ticket holder. I can tell you that MY husband would have stuck up for YOUR fiance! Yes, as an Eagles fan. Most of us aren’t that guy,” commented a fourth.
It’s unclear from Basara’s post whether the Philly fan has since been identified.
