Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter will miss Monday’s game against the Chargers and is week to week after undergoing surgery on both shoulders Monday, according to ESPN.

Carter, who has dealt with shoulder issues for much of the season, is receiving treatment on both shoulders, as he wanted to be as close to 100 percent as possible for the playoffs.

The 24-year-old Pro Bowl tackle took responsibility for not playing up to his potential in Philadelphia’s 24-15 loss to the Bears on Black Friday.

“I blame myself on that, because there were some runs I got drove back and I wasn’t making no effect on the play,” he said.

When asked what caused his issues, Carter said, “That’s my problem to deal with. I ain’t gonna tell everybody what I’m going through.”

Carter made four tackles, including two for loss, with a sack, two quarterback hits and a pass defended.

He spent part of the first half on the bench while third-year player Byron Young played 38 snaps (44 percent).

Carter played 61 snaps (70 percent).

The Eagles allowed 281 yards rushing on the ground.

“He does have a shoulder issue,” defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said of Carter this week. “He has been playing with it. Late in the game, he had a great play with it, but it’s definitely something there.”

The No. 9 overall pick of the 2023 draft, Carter missed the first three practices of training camp with a shoulder injury.

Carter has 32 total tackles with four tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits and two sacks in 10 games so far this season.

He was a key piece in Philadelphia’s 40-22 win over the Chiefs in February’s Super Bowl.

Moro Ojomo and Jordan Davis will lead the defense in Carter’s absence.

The Eagles (8-4) and Chargers (8-4) face off at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., on Monday night.
