Douglas Frank walks away from the podium after speaking on Tina Peters’ behalf during her sentencing for her election interference case at the Mesa County District Court on Oct. 3, 2024.

An election conspiracy theorist and ally of former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is scheduled to speak twice in Delta County in the coming days.

Douglas Frank, who spoke at Peters’ sentencing in October 2024, said he has been investigating election fraud for almost four years.

Frank’s conspiracy theories helped convince Peters the 2020 election was stolen, leading her to commit multiple felonies related to breaching Mesa County’s voting machines.

Peters, who is serving an eight-year, nine-month sentence at the La Vista Correctional Facility in Pueblo, is requesting that a federal court allow her to bond out of prison pending her appeal at the state level, a legal process known as habeas corpus, alleging that her First Amendment rights were violated during her prosecution and sentencing.

Peters was convicted on various counts and sentenced to prison in October 2024 after she was accused of improperly allowing an unauthorized person to enter a secure area of the Mesa County Elections Division in May 2021 to make copies of computer hard drives in search of election fraud, and misleading officials in the process.

Peters has maintained she was simply doing her duty as the Mesa County elections official, and that her prosecution was politically motivated and violated her First Amendment rights by punishing her for statements she made about the validity of the 2020 elections

At Peters’ sentencing, Frank said Peters has always behaved with integrity in their interactions.

“I’m proud to call Tina my friend and stand beside her during this ordeal,” Frank said.

Frank said at the sentencing Peters is being made an example by government officials trying to send a message to election officials to intimidate them into compliance.

“Tina Peters is no conspirator, Tina Peters is a patriot,” Frank said.

A former math teacher and nationally-known election denier, Frank has been touring the country giving presentations about alleged issues with the 2020 presidential election.

One such presentation in April 2021 in Grand Junction was attended by workers from the Mesa County Clerk’s Office at the behest of Peters, according to testimony during her trial.

Frank is scheduled to speak at the Paonia K-8 school and the Pea Green Community Hall, although a press release announcing the talk was unclear about the dates. Both talks are at 6 p.m.
