• Elon Musk’s super PAC has begun spending in two special House elections in Florida.

  • They’re both deep-red districts, but the races have turned out more competitive than expected.

  • It shows that Musk and his super PAC are increasingly becoming a mainstay of GOP elections.

If you live in northern Florida, you may be about to get a text from Elon Musk’s super PAC.

The DOGE leader’s “America PAC” is spending more than $10,000 apiece on two special elections to fill the House seats left vacant by former Reps. Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz, now President Donald Trump’s national security advisor.

Both Gaetz and Waltz represented deep-red seats. In 2024, both men won by more than 30 points.

Yet both special elections have turned out more competitive than expected, with Democratic candidates Gay Valimont and Josh Weil performing better than expected in recent polling.

“What I can say, almost guaranteed, is that the Democratic candidate in both of these Florida special elections will significantly overperform,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters on Monday. “This will represent another sign that the Republicans are on the run and that Democrats are going to take back control of the House of Representatives next year.”

The special elections are set to take place on April 1, the same day as an election to fill a seat on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court.

Musk has also invested in that race, spending millions of dollars and offering $100 to voters to sign a petition, a controversial tactic he used during the presidential election.

Musk could end up spending more on the two special elections over the course of the next week.

The billionaire businessman’s last-minute involvement in the two races signals that, after spending hundreds of millions of dollars to help Trump win in 2024, Musk is likely to remain an important fixture within GOP elections moving forward.
