The food network made its way to Darlington Sunday to film their show “The Great Food Truck Race.”

The public square in downtown Darlington is where thousands of people came from near and far to try the food trucks featured in the show.

“The Great Food Truck Race” is a competition elimination reality show on the Food Network that started in 2010.

The current season being filmed started with nine food trucks.

Trucks that make the most money move on in the competition, and that makes the least eliminated from the competition.

Four food trucks remain in the competition and serve different kinds of food in Darlington.

ABC15 talked with Food Network television show host Tyler Florence, who said he’s enjoyed the community support.

“I love the fact that we get this much traction and all these great towns specifically my home state of South Carolina I’ve bumped into a lot of people that say they’ve drove from myrtle beach, they’re driving from Greenville, they’re driving everywhere to be a part of this and it’s just so much fun,” Florence said.

Many fans of the show came out to support, including one fan from Lamar.

“We love the food network and the show, so we wanted to come out and support it,” Brittany Scarce said.

Locals loved that the show came to Darlington.

“The food network contacted the city of Darlington, and they wanted to film the great food truck race here in town, and of course,e we jumped on it. We love having the food network here in town,” Hunter Thomas, Darlington’s Public and Community Affairs Director, said.

The show even featured Peanut Patch based out of Effingham for the episode they filmed today at Public Square.

“I’m boiling bark, and I’m boiling Brent, and we are The Boiling Brothers,” Brent Underwood and Bart Lattimore said.

Brand Ambassador Bark Lattimore said they got the call from the Food Network a couple of days ago about being featured and were overjoyed.

“I drove down from Virginia to get her;e we weren’t going to miss it for nothing,” Lattimore said.

Lattimore handed out peanuts to locals after filming one of their sets.

“It’s genuine love for the product. A product like this is almost nostalgic it reminds people of you know all of people their grandpas used to cook these on the stove and cook them all day long so we have a lot of people just come up and tell us really heartwarming stuff about how this reminds them of growing up in the south and just spending time with family,” Lattimore said.

The food truck winner of the show’s finale will win 50 thousand dollars.

The show’s next elimination will happen Tuesday at the Public Square in Darlington.

The Great Food Truck Race will be at Darlington Raceway on Monday, where people can catch the show’s host Tyler Florence driving a pace car!
