Valerie Bertinelli is looking forward to the new year.

The Food Network alum, 64, shared a positive message to her fans about starting again after a year full of ups and downs on social media on Friday, Dec. 27.

In the video she reshared to her Instagram Stories, a white sign could be seen taped to a lamppost that read, “2025 is the perfect year to forget your past, forgive yourself and begin again.”

The message is one that the Valerie’s Home Cooking host appears to be taking to heart after going through several changes over the past few months, including her split from boyfriend Mike Goodnough in November, after 10 months of dating.

She has opened up about some challenging experiences she’s gone through over the past few months with both her mind and body.

Last month, Bertinelli opened up about feeling “incredibly vulnerable” after experiencing a “really bad anxiety attack.” She recalled, “I haven’t had one like this in a very, very long time. A few hours ago, I was weeping uncontrollably, and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking.”

She said she was “taking a chance” sharing her experience, but wanted to because she’s “pretty sure I’m not the only one out here who has experienced this.”

“Gratefully these attacks have become much more infrequent, so this one took me a little bit by surprise today,” she noted, adding, “Anyway…this little bit of vulnerability is brought to you by someone who wants you to know you’re not alone.”

Her body has also been through it this year, as she shared in October that she gashed her arm after tripping “over the corner of a stage” and falling down in front of the crew and audience. One month later, she revealed on Instagram that she also hurt her knee, while sharing a photo of it bandaged up.

The Food Network star reflected on the things her body has been through this year and her acceptance of it in a post earlier this month, in which she shared a candid look at her body in the mirror while wearing a two-piece.

“At some point I will talk about the madness my body has been through this year,” she wrote. “But right now every lump, bump, wrinkle and saggy part of me just feels acceptance and simple appreciation to be standing in front of a mirror in a hotel bathroom in downtown Manhattan ready to color my roots late on a Monday night.”

However, this year has also come with positives for Bertinelli, who noted that she has come a long way in accepting her body. She shared in a post earlier this month that “for the first time in my life, I love my body as it is.”

“Even as challenging as it’s been and is, I am grateful for this journey and I wouldn’t trade this body for my 20 year old body any day. Ever,” she shared alongside a mirror selfie posing in a black shirt and ripped jeans with black-rimmed glasses.
