My suggestion for the Mets won’t engender any unnecessary drama, and it definitely shouldn’t trigger even so much as a single boobird, unlike in the strangely mixed reaction at their fan festival Saturday at Citi Field.
My recommendation for the team from Queens is so obvious and non-controversial it’s hard to believe it hasn’t happened yet:
Make the great Francisco Lindor Mets captain.
The main reason, of course, that Lindor should be named captain is that he’d make a great one. But before we get into why that’s the case, let’s deal with a couple small side benefits that maybe aren’t so small.
