Gavin Newsom’s bizarre AI-generated response to The Post’s coverage of his “testicle-crushing” pose has spectacularly backfired — inspiring a wave of memes poking fun at the California governor.
“Gavin is really going to look back and regret this one,” the Monterey County Republican Party wrote in response to Newsom’s doctored post on X showing him striking a yoga pose resembling Dwi Pada Sirsasana.
The reaction from the Monterey County GOP included a video of Newsom, donning a man bun, instructing a yoga class full of prominent Democrats.
In the AI-generated video, a pink spandex-clad Newsom leads top Democrats such as Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz in an outlandish yoga pose.
“Wow, I think my toes are talking back to me!” shouts Newsom’s AI counterpart.
Another parody video shows Newsom lifting off the chair on stage at the New York Times Dealbook Summit and landing in the ocean.
Other reactions played on past viral memes.
One photoshopped Newsom next to a famous image of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, wearing a mask and distinctive mittens, while seated at former President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Another response showed the viral “crazy plane lady” pointing at Newsom declaring, “that motherf–ker back there is not real!”
“Apparently, being elected in California has different responsibilities than in Texas,” wrote Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in response to Newsom’s post.
Newsom posted his initial yoga pose photo to his X account on Friday with the caption: “Democracy requires flexibility.”
The governor had been responding to the Post’s coverage of his oddball cross-legged sitting style at the Times summit.
“They … posted this?” wrote an account representing pollster Mark Mitchell, one in a flood of reactions to the bold post by Newsom’s press office, which has frequently needled President Trump and other Republicans by parroting the president’s writing habits.
Newsom’s office has been contacted for comment.
