George Kittle went from hauling in passes on Sunday to trying to catch Pokémon.
Just after the 49ers blew out the Browns at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, San Francisco kicker Matt Gay recruited Kittle on the team plane ride home to help him open up a rare, first edition fossil set.
The packs can run anywhere from a couple thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands — and Kittle was clearly pumped to get his hands on one.
In video Gay shared to his IG page, Kittle called the pack “crispy,” and noted he used to get similar packs when he was a kid. He went on to rip it open and go over each card with Gay.
He then gawked at the pack’s big jewel: a holographic Magneton.
“That was sick,” Kittle told his teammate of the pull. “Thanks for having me.”
Kittle’s never been shy about showing his love for Pokémon — in fact, he just repped the popular game with a T-shirt while filming a recent video for his YouTube page. He once compared a few of his star teammates to the evolution path of Squirtle as well.

As for his work on the field, Kittle and the Niners are in the middle of a hot streak. They’ve won three in a row and four of their last five. The tight end has nabbed at least four receptions in each of those games. And, at 9-4 this season, San Francisco is right in the hunt for the NFC West crown.
Up next for the Niners is a bye week, which should leave Kittle plenty of time to rest up — and perhaps even some hours to chase a few more Pokémon.
