Atkinson – Gertrude M. “Trudy” Verschuuren, of Atkinson, NH, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, with her family by her side.
She was born in Coventry, RI on July 10, 1936, to the late Donat and Alice (Beliveau) Doucette.
Trudy is survived by her husband: Gerard M. Verschuuren; her daughters: Elizabeth “Liz” Frangiosa, and her husband Mark, of Barnstable, MA, and Tamson “Tammy” Kelley, and her husband John, of Gardner, MA; her grandchildren: Melinda, Wayne, Chelsea, and Thomas; and her great-grandchildren: Isabella, Adam, Colin, Noah, and Adeline.
In addition to her parents, Trudy was predeceased by her daughter, Allyson; and her siblings, Dewey, Irene, Alice, and Doris.
Trudy lived a wonderful life. A devoted mother and wife, she loved her family and church volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister, Prayer Minister, and Sunday School Teacher. She also enjoyed traveling in Europe, and interior decorating. In her high school years, Trudy was a Drum Majorette who led the marching band and competed in the Miss America Pageant placing second in the Miss Rhode Island competition. Trudy has been a member of the Atkinson community for over 20 years and a communicant of St. Matthew’s for over five years.
Friends and family are invited to Calling Hours on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 9 to 10:30 a.m, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated following calling hours at St. Matthew’s Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.
