Giada De Laurentiis Impresses Fans with Video of Daughter Jade, 16, Belting Out Early-2000s Hit

Giada De Laurentiis is highlighting her kid’s talent!

The Food Network alum and cookbook author, 54, showed off 16-year-old daughter Jade Marie De Laurentiis Thompson’s singing skills in her latest Instagram post, a weekend recap that she shared on Monday, March 17.

In between several snaps of food and family, the proud mom slipped in a video of her lookalike daughter — who she shares with her ex-husband, clothing designer Todd Thompson — singing her heart out to Audioslave’s 2002 track “Like a Stone” with her band, The Hours.

The teen also dressed the part, channeling the 2000s in a black tank top and pair of baggy jeans while belting along to the alternative rock hit: “In your house, I long to be / Room by room, patiently / I’ll wait for you there / Like a stone.”

The clip of Jade’s performance — and the track she sang with it, which is older than she is — earned the teen some high praise in the comments of her mom’s post.

“Wow, your daughter is amazing,” one person wrote beneath the weekend recap post, while another added, “Amazing song choice jade!”

Elsewhere in Giada’s post, which she captioned, “A weekend of rest 🫶,” the Emmy-winning chef shared a snap of herself and Jade cuddled up in bed. And, outside of the duo’s mother-daughter moments, the chef also shared a picture of her cat and a photo of herself dessert-shopping — plus an obligatory food pic, of course.

Giada frequently features the teenager — and her band — in her posts. On March 11, the chef shared a snap of Jade by her side at a recent signing for her latest cookbook, Super-Italian, and earlier this month, celebrated International Women’s Day by posting several photos with the teen.

“Thankful for all the women who have made me who I am today & so proud of the woman this girl is becoming ❤️,” she wrote alongside the sweet mom-daughter Instagram post.

While speaking to PEOPLE last fall, Giada acknowledged that she and Jade share a resemblance, but said that doesn’t necessarily make the 16-year-old her “mini me.” The cookbook author also admitted that her vocal talents didn’t come from her — or her dad, for that matter.

“It’s crazy because neither her father or I sing,” the chef told PEOPLE of her ex Thompson. “Nobody in my family sings. I mean, we all love music, but not like that. Maybe in the shower. I’m always speechless when it comes to Jade and her music, because she’s able to write music.”

According to Giada, Jade taught herself to play the keyboard during the pandemic and is currently learning to play the guitar on her own. “I don’t have that gift,” she said of the teen’s musical talents, “so I am just in such awe of her willingness and her openness at teaching herself these instruments that to me are just beyond.”

The proud mom is “really, really fascinated to watch [Jade] because she is nothing like me,” she said, adding, “I know everybody says, ‘She’s like a mini you,’ but she really isn’t.”
