Observations from Thursday’s Giants practice:
Something good
John Harbaugh used the word “ferocious’’ to describe the Giants’ pass rush. “Dominant’’ or “overwhelming’’ would also qualify.
This was a mismatch up front, with the Dolphins’ offensive line often getting abused.
When asked if there were six sacks, Brian Burns shook his head and said “more.’’
Something bad
Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor was yanked off the field for the final series because he threw a punch – Harbaugh treated this like a game and levied the appropriate punishment.
Marcus Mbow replaced Eluemunor with the starting offensive line for the final drive.
“He didn’t really throw a hard punch but it was to the facemask and that will get you in a game — that’s 15-yarder, at least,” Harbaugh said.
Caught my eye
Rookie kicker Dominic Zvada continued his impressive summer.
He was on the money kicking in Miami Gardens, hitting all five of his field goal attempts in the joint practice.
His competition, Ben Sauls, went 3 of 5.
Zvada nailed a 40-yarder to finish off the final two-minute drill.
Medical report
Rookie right guard Sisi Mauigoa was forced out early in the action, as he walked off the field without his shoulder pads and was escorted inside by Ronnie Barnes, the Giants’ senior vice president of medical services.
Mauigoa was sidelined with a “stinger type thing’’ according to Harbaugh, who deemed the injury “not a serious thing.’’
