Democratic Maine Senate hopeful Graham Platner dated multiple women at once and made profiles on different dating apps, according to his ex-girlfriends.
Platner, whose campaign was rocked by a sexting scandal over the weekend, had “overlapping relationships” with other women while dating one of his ex-girlfriends, Lyndsey Fifield, and crudely referred to women as “hatchet wounds,” she told The New York Times.
The Democrat married former teacher Amy Gertner in 2023.
A year after Platner tied the knot with Gertner, an anonymous Facebook user went on a group called “Are we dating the same guy” to share an image of the married candidate.
“Ghosted me in the past,” the message, dated Nov. 4, 2024, said per The Times. “Then popped up on a different dating app. I’m concerned he may have a significant other out there.”
The report featured interviews with Platner’s ex-girlfriends, who recounted their troubling time dating the Democrat candidate and alleged he lied when he said he didn’t know the meaning of a Nazi symbol tattoo on his chest.
In a statement to The Times, Platner said he was “too often self-medicated with alcohol, and was a far from perfect boyfriend” during what he described as a “very dark period of my life.”
Here’s the latest on the bombshell sex allegations against lefty Senate candidate Graham Platner
Platner’s Senate campaign erupted into scandal when the Wall Street Journal exposed him for sexting multiple women on the chat app Kik, frequently used for hookups.
He has since attempted damage control with Senate Democrats in DC after details of his extramarital sexts with half a dozen women roiled his campaign over the weekend.
Platner’s profile image on Kik showed a bathroom mirror selfie of himself wearing only a towel.
“It’s not a secret I’ve had a messy, complicated life,” Platner told his hoped-for colleagues, the Wall Street Journal reported. “The worst of the rumors we’ve all heard are not true.”
