Hootie & the Blowfish, a Pipes and Drums event, euphoria and the Spartanburg Greek Festival are some of the events scheduled for this weekend.

Here is a list of events taking place in the Upstate this weekend.

Hootie & the Blowfish

Hootie & the Blowfish will bring its Summer Camp with Trucks Tour to Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville on Saturday, September 21, with special guests Collective Soul and Edwin McCain. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Hootie and the Blowfish is an American band featuring Darius Rucker, guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber, and drummer Jim “Soni” Sonefeld.

According to Hootie and the Blowfish’s official website, the band has sold over 25 million records worldwide since its infectious melodies hit the airwaves in 1994 with hits such as “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry,” and “Only Wanna Be With You.”

Bon Secours Wellness Arena will also host an open-to-the-public end-of-summer tailgate ahead of the Hootie & the Blowfish concert.

College football will be streamed on a jumbo LED screen from 11:30 a.m. onward. Vendors will include Daylight Burrito, Clare’s Creamery, Project Host, and a beer and barbecue pop-up from the BSWA culinary team.

City of Greenville Pipes and Drums

The City of Greenville’s 50th annual Pipes and Drums event will occur on Saturday, September 21, at 6 p.m. at Trailblazer Park, 235 Trailblazer Drive in Travelers Rest. Admission is free.

Visitors can enjoy an evening of music from the Drop O’ the Pure band with mountain views and evening breezes under the stars. Attendees are welcome to bring a blanket or a chair. Food trucks will start serving at 6 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.

According to the band’s official website, Malcolm Williams founded the Greenville Pipes and Drums band in 1974. Previously known as the Piedmont Highlanders and The Piedmont Pipes and Drums, the band adopted its current name, The City of Greenville Pipes and Drums, in 2005.

The City of Greenville Pipes and Drums represents the community and the state of South Carolina through frequent performances in parades, festivals, concerts, Highland Games, and other prestigious events throughout the Southeast.

The band aims to promote and advance the cultural history and diversity of Greenville and Upstate South Carolina.

The South Greenville Fair

The South Greenville Fair will kick off on Friday, September 20, and Saturday, September 21, at 215 S. E. Main St. in Simpsonville. Admission is free. The event will feature a livestock show and a pageant.

On Friday, the fair will feature a Fair Queen Crowning at 4:50 p.m. At 5 p.m., a dog show will occur; at 5:30 p.m., a goat show; and at 7 p.m., a Rabbit Show. On Saturday, participants can view a dairy cattle show at 9 a.m. and a beef cattle show at noon.

St Mary Magdalene International Festival

The St. Mary Magdalene International Festival will be held on Saturday, September 21, from noon to 9 p.m. at Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2252 Woodruff Road, in Simpsonville.

This event celebrates all cultures and will feature food and live music. Admission is free, but tickets are required for food and kids’ activities.

Euphoria

A foodie’s dream is headed to the Upstate. Euphoria 2024, presented by Lexus, will take place from Thursday, Sept. 19, to Sunday, Sept. 22. It will bring the likes of Food Network star Emeril Lagasse, D.C. area Michelin chef Ryan Ratino, and various Greenville culinary talents to host various food and beverage-based events around the city.

Lagasse will be in Greenville on Friday, Sept. 20, at Avenue, at 111 E. Court St., hosting a Michelin meet & greet event alongside his son, E.J., and Chef Ryan Ratino. The event is officially sold out.

The four-day festival will feature nearly 50 food-centric ticketed events, including tastings, cooking and wine seminars, educational sessions, musical performances, and signature chef events, highlighting Greenville’s emerging food scene.

Spartanburg Greek Festival

The Spartanburg Greek Festival will take place from Friday, September 20, to Sunday, September 22. The event will feature Greek food, live music, dancing, and more. Admission is $2, and children under 12 get in free.

Event times on Friday and Saturday are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Moon Fall Fest 2024

The sixth annual Moon Fall Fest returns on Saturday, September 21. The event will be held at 1070 Cooley Springs School Road in Chesnee.

Visitors can enjoy food trucks, artisan vendors, live music, and more. Vendors will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and entertainment continues until around 10 p.m.

Fall on the Farm at Stewart Farms

Fall on the Farm at Stewart Farms is located at 6600 Highway 92 in Enoree and will run from Saturday, September 21 to October 27, from Fridays to Sundays.

Admission is free, but activities are priced individually ($5-$12 per activity), and pumpkins are sold at 60 cents per pound. The event will feature a pumpkin patch, tractor ride, peanut-themed corn maze, nighttime maze, and wagon rides.

First Responders’ Picnic

A First Responders Picnic will occur on Saturday, September 21, at 2075 E. Main St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The J.F. Floyd Mortuary sponsors this event. The event will feature food, games, and activities.

Intocable 30th-anniversary tour

The 30th-anniversary tour of Intocable will be held on Friday, September 20 at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, 385 N. Church St. The show starts at 8 p.m. Ticket prices range from $39.50 plus fees to $119 plus fees.

According to the event organizers, Intocable is considered one of the most influential groups in today’s Tejano/Norteño music scene.

Some of their hits include “Robarte un Beso,” “Prometí,” “Te Amo (Para Siempre),” “Culpable Fui (Culpable Soy),” their latest “Tu Ausencia,” as well as fan favorites like “Dame Un Besito,” “Eres Mi Droga,” Enséñame an Olvidarte,” “Sueña,” “Contra Viento y Marea,” “Llueve,” “Arrepiéntete,” among others.

2024 South Carolina Old Time Fiddler’s Convention Friday Night Concert

The 2024 South Carolina Old Time Fiddler’s Convention Friday Night Concert will occur on Friday, September 20, at Hagood Mill Historic Site located at 138 Hagood Mill Road in Pickens from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Ticket pricing for this event is as follows. Weekend Camping Package (Friday-Sunday): includes two camping tickets, two tickets for Friday and Saturday night concerts, and general admission to the State Fiddling Competition, which is $60.

Camping Only (1 night or both nights) is $10 per person. Friday or Saturday concert tickets only are $10 each. Saturday competition tickets are only $5, and children ages 9 and under enter for free.

A Friday night concert will be held in the Heritage Pavilion starting at 7 p.m. Dan Wood and Andy Brooks will showcase their new CD. Dan Gellert, Henry Barnes, Ali Kafka, and The Alum Ridge Boys and Ashlee will also perform.

Saturday night, after the Championship, The Wilder Flower will host their Album Release Party at 8 p.m., followed by a performance by Billy Hurt and Five Mile Mountain Road.

Taylors’ Robert Burns has won the South Carolina State Fiddling Championship for the third time. Watch and listen to him play in an exclusive video at GreenvilleOnline.com.

According to event organizers, the SC State Fiddling Championship will occur on Saturday, September 21, starting at 9:15 a.m. However, the competition has run as late as 8 p.m., so please plan ahead.

Each registered competitor will receive one free general admission ticket to Saturday’s event.

Hagood Mill will be in operation throughout the day, selling fresh stone-ground products. The event will also feature living history demonstrators, artisan vendors, and food trucks on site.

According to event organizers, visitors can bring lawn chairs or blankets for the show. They are also welcome to bring their favorite old-time instruments and join in the “open jam,” which typically takes place throughout the day under the ancient cedar beside our beloved 1791 log cabin.

Food truck rollout

The city of Greer Food Truck Rollout will take place on Friday, September 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature local food trucks and music from Amongst the Trees.

Local food trucks include Aspen Street Sweets, Crazy Good Kettle Corn, Jaded Skyes, Papi Churros, Rolitos, Williams BBQ Smokehouse, Daddy’s Cookout, Everything Egg Roll, and One-Eyed Donkey.

According to event organizers, visitors are welcome to bring blankets and chairs. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Greer Relief & Resources Agency, Inc. A valid ID is required to purchase alcohol. Outside alcohol and coolers are prohibited.

This Food Truck Rollout will be in partnership with the Greer Farmers Market.

Fall Book Sale

Spartanburg County Libraries’ Fall Book Sale will occur on Friday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both days are open to the public.

Bike Rodeo in Anderson County

The 24th annual Bike Rodeo will be held on Friday, September 20, at noon and Sunday, September 22, at 1 p.m. at The Outpost Bar and Grill at 107 Whit Chamblee Road in Starr. Confederates MC sponsors the event, which will feature fireworks, a bike show, and bike games.

Italian Night feast

Consider visiting Cobb’s Glenn Country Club at 2201 Cobbs Way on Friday evenings for an Italian Night feast of flavors, culture, and freshly made pasta. Three dates are set aside: Friday, September 20 and September 27. Each Friday evening has four seating times: 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.

According to the event organizers, given the popularity of this event, reservations are highly recommended to ensure you and your guests have a spot at the table.

Macaron Class

“Are you a fan of baking? You should check out a hands-on macaron-making class led by Alison Bradford, the owner of Faith, Family & Frosting. The class is sponsored by The Collaboration Station and Faith, Family, and Frosting, and it’s being held at 214 Bank St, Central, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The class will teach you the fundamentals of making macarons, including measuring, mixing, piping, and proper storage. Plus, every participant will get to take home samples of each flavor made during the class.

Anderson Jeep Fest Kick-Off Party

Are you a Jeep owner or a fan of Jeep? Consider attending the 2nd Annual Anderson Jeepfest Kick-off Party on Friday, September 20 at 6 p.m. The party will be held at 150 Rose Valley Blvd. It’s free to attend.

The event will feature food trucks, live music, DJ Lane with Posh Entertainment, a glow competition, and a parade.

Those interested in participating in the glow competition and parade must register online at www.theandersonjeepfest.com. Registering will allow you to receive a bracelet and be entered into a giveaway.

The price is $10 to enter a Jeep into the parade and $20 for the competition.
