Cody Rhodes’ promo on SmackDown sure felt like him starting to recharge his babyface momentum with John Cena waiting in the wings to pounce after his heel turn as we head to WrestleMania.

The biggest thing we heard was Rhodes referring to himself as Cena’s WWE babyface successor for the first time.

What he didn’t oddly mention was rapper Travis Scott, whose vicious and dangerous slap at Elimination Chamber likely led to Rhodes having a bloody and swollen eye and having to put some sort of earplugs in his ear during his pyro.

The promo itself felt like he was asking fans to get behind him one more time, for a third straight WrestleMania run, like they had for him against Roman Reigns the past two years. At one point he talked about how he never feared working in Philadelphia like his father Dusty because of how they reacted to his 2013 Money in the Bank appearance.
