LeBron James and son Bronny James are denying any wrongdoing after being sued last October for an alleged 2022 car crash, according to TMZ.
The father-son duo “deny each and every allegation contained in the complaint,” per the report.
April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillien filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Oct. 23, 2024 — according to the Los Angeles Times — alleging that LeBron and Bronny crashed their car into them on a highway in Littlerock, Calif., on Nov. 13, 2022.
The lawsuit alleges the pair of Lakers “negligently owned, controlled, repaired, entrusted, maintained and operated an automobile as to cause it to, and it did, become involved in an accident or collision,” per the Los Angeles Times. Lopez owned the vehicle while McGillen was driving at the time of the alleged crash.
The women claimed they suffered injuries that, at the time, required treatment and will in the future, while their car had been damaged and lost value due to the accident.
The amount they sought was unknown at the time, per multiple reports.
The Los Angeles Times reported in October that a court date had been set for Feb. 19, 2025.
The two women filed the lawsuit the morning after LeBron and Bronny made history by becoming the first father-son duo to share an NBA court together in the Lakers’ 110-103 Opening Night win over the Timberwolves on Oct. 22 at Crypto.com Arena.
Bronny tallied three minutes that night, failing to score and missing both of his shots in his first game after controversially being selected in the second round with the 55th overall pick.
LeBron notched 16 points and five rebounds.
“That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, it’s a moment I’m never going to forget,” LeBron said after the game. “No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment.”
The Lakers are in action Tuesday when they host the Mavericks in a highly anticipated game that marks Luka Doncic’s first game against his former team after being acquired earlier this month in a blockbuster move that has led to fans revolting in Dallas.
Los Angeles (34-21) sits in fourth place in the Western Conference and has won eight of its last 10 games, with James averaging 24.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.8 assists.
Bronny averages 1.4 points across 17 games.
