The 2024 Presidential Election on Nov. 5 is weeks away and it’s hard to forget thanks to the number of candidate lawn signs displayed in metro Detroit neighborhoods.

Lawn signs for Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, along with signs for Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump and his running mate U.S. Sen. JD Vance, are popping up more frequently as Election Day draws nearer.

In neighborhoods you can sometimes find dueling displays with signs for Harris standing firmly across from, or next to, signs for Trump.

Voters use the sinage to show support for their candidate or sometimes as a pushback on neighbors’ signs for the opposing candidate.

Whatever the reason for wanting a political sign for the presidential race, there are plenty of ways to get them.

How to get a Harris or Trump lawn sign

Both Harris and Trump offer lawn signs for sale on their websites’ official stores.

A blue and white Harris-Walz yard sign costs $20. The 24-by-18-inch double-sided corrugated sign is American-made and union-printed, according to the website. The purchase is a donation to the Harris Victory Fund.

While the Harris campaign may be going for consistency with one sign, the store for official merchandise for the Trump campaign has 10 signs available.

Trump double-sided signs are 22-by-15 inches, made in the United States and cost $24, according to the store website.

There are three traditional looking red, white and blue signs that include Trump and Vance’s names and the “Make American Great Again!” motto. There’s also a black and white one with Trump’s name followed by “Never surrender!” The other signs are catered more to individual voters. Their messages read:

  • Veterans and military families for Trump

  • Gun owners for Trump

  • Latino Americans for Trump

  • Black Americans for Trump

  • Believers for Trump

  • Jewish Voices for Trump.

Supporters of either candidate can also buy signs online at Amazon, Etsy, Walmart or other retailers.

Signs may also be available at candidate campaign offices or from county political party organizations across Michigan — where they are sometimes free.
