Wedding planning’s got her licked

Before getting all dressed in white, most brides become extremely calorie-conscious, fretting over the nutritional facts of every meal in an effort to cut svelte frames while walking down the aisle.

But one nearly-wed nearly lapped up a scary amount in excess cals while sealing off invites to her nuptials.

“I just found out that I consumed over 1,000 calories in one sitting by licking envelopes,” groaned bride-to-be Chloe Williams, 22, to the 1.2 million viewers of her TikTok tell-all.

The brunette’s big-day blunder elicited lickety-split reactions from stunned cyber audiences.

“New fear unlocked,” confessed a shook onlooker beneath the eye-popping post.

“Noooo! What a waste of calories!” an equally shocked commenter exclaimed.

“Okay, is that why they taste so good tho?” questioned a fan of mail glue.

“I feel like for some things we can pretend that calories don’t exist — like ain’t no way envelopes count,” penned a supporter.

Luckily, Williams miscalculated the magnitude of her mistake.

She’d mistook the caloric value of the glue on a British stamp, which can reportedly contain between 5.9 and 14.5 calories, for the much lower cal-cost of US envelope glue — a substance known as Gum Arabic, or gum acacia.

The Food and Drug Administration initially determined that gum acacia obtained about 4 calories per serving, per a 1998 report. However, by the mid-2000s, FDA officials reportedly lowered its measure to around 1.7 calories in each taste — a number that envelope glue experts say now calculates to a paltry 0.1 calories.

Gum Acacia was officially included as part of the FDA’s definition of dietary fiber in December 2021, owing to its physiological effects, like reducing blood glucose and insulin levels.

The perks of the sticky substance notwithstanding, brides with a yen for staying trim have gone to extreme lengths to avoid packing on any unwanted pre-wedding pounds.

Vikki Ryan, 38, a British bride, thought she was “going to die” in January after taking “fake Ozempic” in the hopes of shedding fat before saying “I Do.”

Brooke Reffo, a newlywed from Australia, instead took a “healthier” approach to shaving off 60 pounds before taking the plunge.

“I taught myself portion size. For me, my weight loss came down to what I put in my mouth,” said the blonde, who tied the knot in 2023. “I counted calories using an app. I started low, and then added an extra 100 calories each week until I reached 1800 calories a day.

“Everything in life is so much better when you feel good about yourself.”
