Food Network’s Bobby Flay doesn’t think he’ll be walking down the aisle with a lucky lady any time soon. The chef opened up on a Tuesday, October 29, episode of Kristin Cavallari‘s “Let’s Be Honest” podcast about his rocky relationship history and hopes for the future.
Kristin, 37, got right to the point when she asked Bobby, 59, if he would ever be interested in getting married again.
“Is it off the table? If you asked me today, I’d say probably, yes. I don’t know,” he told her. “For me, it hasn’t been the best situation. That said, I don’t feel like I need to do it again. I have an amazing daughter who is 28 years old. I’m not having any more kids as far as I know.”
“I would be interested in a life partner for sure. But I don’t think it necessarily needs the documentation,” he added.
Bobby has been divorced three times. The Beat Bobby Flay star divorced his first wife, Debra Ponzek, in 1993 after two years of marriage. From 1995 to 1998, Bobby was married to his second wife, Kate Connelly. They welcomed one daughter, Sophie Flay, in 1996. In 2005, Bobby wed his third wife, Stephanie March. They were married for a decade before divorcing in 2015.
The Laguna Beach alum asked Bobby if there were any distinct similarities about his divorces that he could pinpoint.
“They were completely different,” the cookbook author said. “I haven’t been married now for 10 years. I feel more comfortable not being married. I think there’s less pressure.”
“Once you sign a document that says, ‘You are now together,’ there’s something that changes,” he continued. “When you try to explain that to people who have never been married, they don’t know what you’re talking about. They’re like, ‘What’s the difference?’ And I’m like well, there is a difference but I can’t really put my finger on it.
Most recently, Bobby dated Christina Pérez for three years before calling it quits on their romance. It seemed like things were going rather well for them at the start.
“She’s so lovely. I’m really happy to have met her,” he told People in December 2021. “My life is so crazy hectic, and she’s always the light at the end of the day for me.”
The two quietly split in June 2024, People reported. The following month, Bobby talked about being single again.
“I’m just relaxed right now,” he told People. “I mean, I don’t really have anything to say about that. It’s still kind of new for me, and I’m just looking forward to playing golf this week.”
He ended up taking Sophie, 28, for a father-daughter date to the Olympics later in July.
“She claimed to be my plus one about two seconds after I got the invite,” the dad of one revealed at the time. “Sophie knows everybody at the Olympics, because she’s worked it twice. So she knows all the NBC people over there. So I’m basically going to be following Sophie around.”
