“I’m a great advocate of doing business with your partner,” she tells the outlet. “Being married is actually the most fun ever—life got way more fun somehow. I have a responsibility, being someone’s wife. I want to be better.”

She adds, “Even if we both have to fly to a country in between where we both are for one night, we’ll do it and then fly back to work the next day. And we speak all day, every day on the phone.”

On the topic of kids, Robbie immediately shuts down the conversation with a blunt answer: “No! Definitely not.” As for Ackerley’s feelings about having children, she reveals, “Three days ago my husband stopped by a dog shelter on the way back from the airport, and we now have a pit bull puppy. We already have a two-year-old [dog] who still acts like a puppy. I love him, but he’s a handful, and for the last three days I haven’t slept. I’m like, ‘We’re fostering her for the week,’ and my husband’s saying, ‘No! We’re keeping her.’ And I’m saying, ‘We absolutely cannot and, if anything, you are now cementing in my mind that we cannot have kids. I can’t cope with two puppies, let alone children!’ ”

Despite this, Robbie says she would be open to welcoming kids in the future. “If I’m looking into my future 30 years from now, I want to see a big Christmas dinner with tons of kids there,” she says. “But definitely not at the moment. That’s 100 percent certain.”

When they first met, Robbie says, she was “the ultimate single gal.” She explains: “The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’ And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.’ ”

Because we weren’t really taking it seriously. ‘Oh, whatever, we’re just mates, we’re just mates.’ And then … everyone found out,” she tells the outlet. When word got out to their roommates that they had begun dating, Robbie adds, “It was dramatic. I’m not going into the details, but shit hit the fan. Our house turned into The Jerry Springer Show for a moment there. But then the dust settled, and it was all good…. The wider friendship survived! Everyone was, like: ‘No! This is going to ruin our group!’ And then it didn’t. It was fine.”
