With Iowa poised to head into it’s eighth consecutive year with a Republican majority in the state House and Senate, people can expect to see some familiar faces in leadership positions.

GOP Senator Jack Whitver won his bid for re-election as Majority Leader for a seventh year.

“It is an honor to continue to lead the most productive, conservative Republican caucus in the country,” Senator Whitver said. “To again be reelected as Senate Majority Leader is a privilege and I am grateful for the support of my colleagues. I am proud of our accomplishments like implementing a flat income tax, eliminating the tax on retirement income, fighting off excessive spending, and providing law enforcement the legal protection and equipment they need to safely do their jobs. I look forward to working on important issues facing our state like lowering the cost of living and easing the property tax burden.”

Republican Senator Amy Sinclair was also chosen again to be Senate President, a post she’s been serving in for two years.

“It is humbling to be chosen to serve another term as President of the Iowa Senate,” Sen. Sinclair said. “I look forward to working together with our even larger supermajority to continue implementing pro-growth, pro-taxpayer, pro-family policies to make Iowa the best state in the country.”

State House Representatives Pat Grassley (R- Cedar Falls) and Matt Windschitl (R- Missouri Valley) will also be keeping their seats as Speaker of the House and House Majority Leader, respectively.

Iowa GOP leader Jeff Kaufmann released the following statement Tuesday, congratulating all four Republicans for their re-election to their leadership roles.

“After a very successful 2024 legislative session, our State Senate and House will continue to show our country why Iowa is leading the nation in implementing solid, common-sense Conservative policies. Senate Majority Leader Whitver and Speaker Grassley will continue to work with Gov. Reynolds to create a safe and prosperous future for all Iowans.”

“Congratulations to Sen. Jack Whitver on his re-election to Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Amy Sinclair on re-election to Senate President, Rep. Pat Grassley on re-election to Speaker of the House, Rep. Matt Windschitl on his re-election to House Majority Leader, and the rest of the leadership teams. Our state and our Legislature is in good hands with them at the helm!”
